Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

Authors

  • Generative AI tools (e.g., large language models) cannot be listed as authors, because they cannot take responsibility for the work.
  • Authors may use AI tools to improve language and readability, or as a research tool, provided that the use is under human oversight and is transparently disclosed in the manuscript (e.g., in the methods section or a declaration before the references), stating the tool and the purpose of its use.
  • Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all content, including any content produced with the assistance of AI, and for ensuring that references are genuine and correctly cited.
  • AI-generated or AI-altered images, figures, and data are not permitted unless they are part of the research design and are fully described.

Reviewers and Editors

Manuscripts under review are confidential. Reviewers and editors must not upload manuscripts, or any part of them, or their review reports to generative AI tools, and must not use AI to make or draft evaluative judgments on manuscripts.

Undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI may be treated as a breach of publication ethics.
